About Us
Celebrating life since 2000
As a proud member of the Raleigh community since 2000, we're honored to help families celebrate their loved ones. We pledge to ensure that every funeral and memorial service is deeply personal, fostering healing and remembrance.
Our promise
Today, tomorrow, and forever, our commitment to you stays the same.
Dignity
Every life is unique, and we promise to honor and respect each journey, crafting ceremonies that reflect each individual.
Guidance
Navigating grief can be overwhelming; we stand by you, providing direction and solace every step of the way.
Legacy
Beyond a service, we're committed to helping families create lasting tributes that transcend generations.
Our story
We are located on Millbrook Road between Capital Blvd. and Atlantic Avenue. For your convenience, our staff members are available for consultations at our office location or the comfort of your home. We offer a Traditional Chapel for services or you may prefer for us to provide services at your church or graveside location. Our newly added Reception Center is equipped for large accommodations to receive family members and friends before or after a service.
Our sister company of 40 years, Cremation Society of the Carolinas, was established in 1973 and has been assisting families in the Triangle area with quality Cremation Services. During this time, it has also been our honor to assist families with their Burial Funeral Service needs, and in 2000, Capital Funeral Home was established to further our professional offerings to all families requesting Traditional Burial options in the Triangle area.

John Paul Womble
Manager and Funeral Director
John Paul Womble is a Raleigh native who attended Needham Broughton High School before going on to Campbell University, North Carolina State University and Fayetteville Technical Community College. He is active in several civic groups and volunteers in development and fundraising for some of our local non profits.
Womble completed his apprenticeship here at The Cremation Society of the Carolinas and went on to work for other funeral homes, and recently returned to us as our Location Manager and Funeral Director.
"I am keenly aware of the growth and changes our firm has undergone this past year, and the challenges we have faced as we remain focused on serving our families with heartfelt compassion, the highest quality of care and affordable services." Womble went on to note, " We stand on the shoulders of Giants, who throughout our history have been dedicated to serving folks all across the Carolinas. And we are committed to honoring our history and continuing to grow in the ways we serve today!"
Our team includes a wide array of cultural, religious and ethnic diversity. We are committed to serving you with heartfelt compassion, the highest quality of care and affordable services that meet your needs.
Michael Lesney

Michael is a third generation Funeral Director, he grew up in Dearborn, Michigan working at his family funeral home where he was involved in the operations of the funeral service at a young age. He learned the value of hard work and ethics from his grandfather and father, in every aspect of funeral service.
While not a native Southerner, Michael colleagues, friends and those that know him best say that he has adopted the story-telling skills of the best back-porch tellers any of us have ever heard tell of.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Worsham College of Mortuary Science In 1994. He currently is licensed in multiple states as a funeral director/ embalmer and a licensed Preplanning counselor.
Daniel Scuderi
Cremation Specialist/Removal Care Team
Daniel is originally from Long Island, relocated here because, according to Daniel, "Well it's nicer here - the weather and the people." And this makes sense as Daniel is one of the nicest and most gentle folks we have ever met. Daniel is also an author, musician and family man.
Jack Newbauer
Funeral Assistant (Non-licensed)
Jack Newbauer was born in Raleigh at Wake Medical Center, which makes him truly a native son. His family still lives here and he spends a tremendous amount of time with his family - and ours. He has four cats and a dog that thinks she is a cat. He and his girlfriend, Kara, help as caregiver for his family matriarch, Nana (Marlene). Jack will soon be starting school and his apprenticeship to become a licensed funeral director.
Madeline Mack
Funeral Home Administrator
Madeline is another kind soul who left the northeast to join us in a gentler climate. She admits when she arrived here she was so young as to almost be a native daughter. Madeline loves to be at home with her family, enjoys exploring nature, and of course shopping. She's passionate about and committed to leaving the world better than she found it which drew her to serving families during a difficult time in their lives.
